Dr. Ying-Shu "Kathleen" Sheu


Ying-Shu "Kathleen" Sheu is a lyric soprano with a Doctor of Music Arts degree from The Catholic University of America as well a Master of Music and Graduate Performance Diploma in vocal performance from Peabody Conservatory of Music of Johns Hopkins University.

 

A native of Taipei, Taiwan, she started studying music at the piano and voice at a young age and received her Bachelor of Fine Art in Music from Soochow University in Taipei, Taiwan.  Dr. Sheu has performed with various groups around greater Baltimore/Washington areas: Baltimore Choral Arts Society, Cathedral Choral Society at Washington National Cathedral, Bach Concert Series at First English Evangelical Lutheran Church in Baltimore, Columbia Pro Cantare in Columbia, Bradley Hill Presbyterian Church in Bethesda, and Little Flowers Catholic Church in Bethesda.

 

She had won several music competitions with the Baltimore Music Club, National Association of Teachers in Vocal Competition in the Maryland /DC Chapter and the Mid-Atlantic Region. She was the featured soprano soloist during the world premiere performance by Cathedral Choral Society and National Symphony Orchestra of Claude Debussy’s Pretempe.  She is also featured as the soloist in Cathedral Choral Society’s Christmas album Welcome All Wonders! Dr. Sheu currently is the music director of Calverton Baptist Church.
